What is this?

Mother Earth is a term that is often used to encompass a wide array of ecological, cultural, spiritual and ethical beliefs about the natural world, community and environment. It simultaneously frames our relationship to nature as something that is both deeply personal, but also widely shared and interconnected. As a concept, it conveys an understanding of the world that is non-hierarchical and relational, acknowledging that humanity is deeply enmeshed in an interdependent system in which matter, energy, and life profoundly interact and influence each other. By emphasizing the interconnectedness and global ecology that makes each of our lives possible, Mother Earth speaks to the need to foster global sustainability and strive to ensure a better future for all.
